Mod. Lax looks to Stay above .500

With a overtime 9-8 win at Horseheads on Tuesday the Boys Modified Lacrosse Team improved to 4-3 on the season. It was a hard fought, back and forth battle in a constant downpour, as Horseheads tied the game with less than 30 seconds left in the game. A few minutes later and a quick feed to the crease, the guys had their 4th win. It was the last game of the season for the 9th graders.

The team, Coach Kamp and Coach Federation should be proud of what they have accomplished this season. They have continued to improved as the season progressed and have gelled nicely as a team.

They finish the season with a trip to Tully (home of two time NCAA champ and SU star Dan Hardy) this afternoon.

Practice for Thursday 05/14/09

As of now (4:10) we are still practicing. I understand that it is now raining in Dryden. The radar shows a front moving through but it doesn't look big, but I'm not a meteorologist either. Please use your own judgment when deciding on whether to attend or not.

Mod Lax Improves to 3-2 on Season

After falling to Horseheads, 7-4, in a hard fought battle on Monday night, the Boys Modified Lacrosse team rebounded with a 7-4 victory over Tully on Wednesday night. The score was 4-2 in favor of the visiting Black Knights at half time. Dryden started the third quarter with two quick unanswered goals to draw even with Tully. When the quarter ended it was 6-4 in favor of the Lions. Several great defensive stands and another insurance goal sealed the win for the home team. This was the first win of the season against an established program (Elmira is in their first year) and one the team and coaches should be proud of. They have come a long way from that first practice on March 23rd.

Three games remain. The team travels to Ithaca on Tuesday the 19th for possibly their toughest game of the season against a good Ithaca team. On Friday the 22nd they will try to avenge an earlier lose as they travel to Horseheads. They finish up the season with a rematch in Tully on Thursday the 28th.

Modified gives Forks all they can handle -

On a beautiful Saturday morning, on the brand new "Field Turf" of Blue Devil Stadium, the Dryden Modified Boys Lax team held their own with an experienced Forks team. The first half ended in a 1-1 tie. Several defensive stands coupled with Eric Foote's exceptional performance between the pipes kept the game close. The offense had several opportunities only to be turned back by an equally exceptional performance by the blue Devils goalie.

Forks scored a couple of quick goals as the third quarter got underway, but the team continued to play well and kept the score within reach. As the final horn blew the Dryden fans (we had a great turnout for the away game !!) knew that even though the score said 6-3, the Team and coaches should be proud of an impressive performance against a good team. (see link below for game photos)

Dryden hosts Elmira on Tuesday. There will be a tailgate party after the game. I don't have all the details but I believe we will have an added game on Friday at Union Edicott. (stay tuned) The team travels to Horseheads next Tuesday.
